Here are the top 5 news related to NEET 2023 that did not make the headlines:
NEET PG aspirant takes his life; hearing the news, his father takes his own life.
A NEET UG aspirant took his life by jumping from the 6th floor of his Kota PG
A 17-year-old NEET aspirant from Rajasthan takes his life in Kota
An 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Bihar takes his life by hanging, which was the 5th in the 6th week.
A female student was forced to remove her undergarment in Chennai; she did not write the exam and went home. There were also many other students we were treated similarly.
These are just some news; there are many more, like the boy who took his life on the eve of NEET. I have always been vocal about issues in the national-level entrance examination that takes place yearly. NEET or JEE is never an option to bring equality; there is always the issue of class, caste, and the tyranny of coaching institutions. Dr Rajeev, professor at Christ (Deemed To Be University) points out in his article for Deccan Herald, “Merit is the product of a combination of social factors, including class and caste backgrounds. This reality is in opposition to the common myth and imagination that merit is the result of hard work and individual talents alone. Only in an egalitarian society can students be measured solely based on their individual performances”.
We must devise a pragmatic solution where young girls are not humiliated, and people are not taking their lives. Only when an examination is conducted without infringing human rights can we say the exam was conducted victoriously; until then, it was conducted on their blood and tears.
