When writing about the history of Thiruvalla, it's curious to note the history of how the district of Pathanamthitta was formed on 1st November 1982 as a favour to K.K Nair, who was the then Pathanamthitta MLA, the rumour says that when Nair met the CM Karunakaran requesting a new district, he asked Nair to resign from his MLAship which he did result in the birth of a new district; in the by-election, he went on to win with a more significant majority than before. He was also a wonder leader, who was loved and venerated by people. Hence he was known as the father of Pathanamthitta; his passion to work for the people gave us God's own Pathanamthitta.
